How to Create REAL Business Balance

The first key into the success of business balance is to recognize that passive energy is not weak, but actually strong and that actually without this energy the male energy of action is weakened. You may be going around acting, acting, acting, but without this passive energy there is no wisdom behind the acting.

Instead, the action is often coming from desperation, overwhelm and an overall frenetic feeling of, “how do I make this happen?” This has you cut off from the ability to receive and accept inspired thoughts, ideas and actions.

The truth is that when we learn to surrender to a higher energy pattern and power, this is the true path to power - a power much stronger then what you could do only by your lonesome self. Knowing the energy pattern of surrender gives you an opening of the heart. This brings calm and confidence to any business decision and action.

As soon as you get attached to the outcome - what that must look like, how it must happen - then you have severed yourself from the highest good of all to be served.

So first and foremost you set the intention to be of an open heart and an open mind. When you do this you and your business become an empty vessel that the power of the Universe can work through. Again, cut this off by being the one “in charge” and you’ve just limited yourself from all the richness that is waiting to be born forth from you and your business.

Now the mistake that most entrepreneurs make is to be of only the outer world. However, another major mistake is SAYING you are connected to the higher energy functioning of your business (Spirit, God, Universe - whatever you call it), but actually clinging to the belief that really only you can make the success of your business happen. The ego-mind will try to have you believe that to surrender is to give up, to lay down and let destruction happen.

What Would You Do If People Were Just GIVING You Clients?

Do you have people (those who know you, like you, trust you, love you, and want the best for you) who are constantly giving you new clients? If not there is most likely only ONE reason why not … they don’t know what you’re up to and who your ideal clients are!

See, most people are REALLY happy to help out. It makes them feel good. This is great news! The not so good news is that most entrepreneurs usually don’t get to experience this because they don’t know how to set up an effective, aligned-with-who -they-are referrals system. They feel like they will be seen as rude or unprofessional or will appear desperate if they let others know that they are happy to receive business.

Yikes! Can you feel the energy mis-match there?! You want more clients and business, but you are NOT willing to give this your attention and focus with those who already know you, like you, trust you, love you, and want the best for you? Sets you up to be working pretty hard at this business building thing, doesn’t it?

When I started both of my businesses I reached out to my friends, my family, my past colleagues - my entire network! - and shared the excitement I felt about beginning something NEW. I asked them to celebrate with me by keeping their eyes, ears and hearts open to folks who would be a match to my service. (In the EnergyRICH® Business Boot Camp this has come to be known as The EnergyRICH® Celebratory Announcement Letter)

The result? I received clients right away!

The intention with this letter is for the energy to be celebratory (the same way you would send an announcement about an engagement, graduation or a party - people love to get good news!) AND to then consistently send it out. So for example you send 3-5 announcements at a time so there is space to follow up with folks after and check in (the same way you would check in to see if they are coming to a party). It gives you a chance to hear more about what’s going on for them in their life and tell them personally more of what’s new with you and your business.

I will also share with you when I first starting sending out these announcements I received ideal referrals who became clients right away, some of the people that I had directly sent the announcement to became my clients themselves, some people kept me in their thoughts and sent me clients months and even years later! And then, of course, there were the referrals from folks who were originally referred (they knew to refer people to me because that’s how they had come to me!)

The key is - consistency. I still do this today. It’s changed form a bit. I no longer need to announce that I’ve started a business, but I DO announce what’s NEW in my business. It’s a system that I’ve been using and that’s been working for me for years.

How to Use Appreciation to Increase Financial Abundance

If you’re a person who comes from the corporate world or maybe even a system or organization such as the teaching system that I came from, you might remember that it wasn’t considered professional to give personal compliments, praise or even any type of overall expression of appreciation. There always seemed to be fear around this: don’t say too much, don’t get too close, don’t share from your heart … so let’s take a moment to recognize what this really is: an activation of lack. That’s right, the holding back of praise and appreciation activates lack. When you withhold sharing something that is of a natural, abundant energy (like gratitude) you are activating the opposite: lack.

When you do this, lack then begins to show up in ALL other areas of your business and life as well.

See, this is why EnergyRICH® entrepreneurs use praise as an integral part of their everyday interactions with others. What I found for myself was when I made this shift and started sharing praise and appreciation during business interaction the energy of business abundance expanded! I also made sure I didn’t have an attachment to how the praise or appreciation was received (that didn’t matter) but just allowed myself to be confidently in that abundant flow of sharing praise, sharing appreciation … everything in my business started to shift.

When I say that I wasn’t attached to how appreciation was received what I mean is I released judgment about how I expressed it and how others received it. The release of judgment for myself was ‘Oh gosh, here I am at a networking event and I shouldn’t be complimenting someone on what they are wearing; we’re here to talk about business. And definitely not if it’s a man…’ I let that all go and just connected back to what I knew was my primary intention, which was to express the appreciation and abundance that I was naturally feeling for myself and somebody else.

What I noticed as I started to do this - again, especially at business meetings, networking events, and even connecting with potential clients - was that most people are literally starving for praise. That’s right. And as I practiced this more and more what I came to further understand is that most people are starving for praise because literally (research shows) close to 95 percent of the population are just unskilled or unpracticed or amateurs in the art of interpersonal communication (and expressing appreciation is a HUGE part of being this.)

It’s not just that expressing appreciation isn’t supposedly appropriate in business; it’s that it’s not practiced hardly anywhere! Why? Because most people don’t know how and they don’t know how because they haven’t practiced it! But here’s the thing: human beings are emotional creatures. Emotional creatures have a high need (you could even say it might be a mild addiction) to the sweet-sounding words of encouragement and recognition.

So let’s look at why this makes a difference in business …

Being in business is simply about human relationships, no matter what business you’re in. If you’re in a service business, absolutely; if you’re in a product business, this applies to you too. Because who you are exchanging your energy with - whether it’s through your service or your product - the receiver on the other end is a person, a human being.

To leave emotion out of business doesn’t really make energetic sense. It actually creates a disconnect and that’s what I know I was feeling as I was holding myself back when I was in that first year of business. Honestly, I look back at that first year and I feel a sinking pit in my stomach because of all of the missed opportunities. But, then I manage my energy and am able to just embrace it, allow it. I forgive and more so, I use that to fuel myself to creating amazing connections that are filled with praise and appreciation every day in my business now: with my EnergyRICH® Support Team, Coaching Team, JV Partners, Boot Camp Members, Private Mentor Clients … you name it!

I would also say that when it comes to your sharing of praise and appreciation, you do want - as EnergyRICH® Entrepreneurs - to choose this praise and appreciation to be connected with your heart, with your soul, authentically, genuinely, fully grounded from the most open-heart place.

That’s what allows appreciation energy to manifest into physical abundance. Easily.

A Knock Your Socks Off Networking Secret

 EnergyRICH® Entrepreneurs know the massive power of creating a network and they do not take it for granted. There’s a true understanding about the value of connections made through genuine, authentic, heart-felt conversation. 

 

Sadly, so many entrepreneurs shy away from creating connections and building a powerful network because they question whether they even have something of value to share; or are afraid of what would actually happen if a person wanted to become a client; or worry about being ready or measuring up if someone actually does send business their way … 

So how do you create a “network” for your business in a way that’s easy and feels good?

It all begins by having a conversation. And you begin this by opening your mouth. And in this conversation you share about yourself and your business very genuinely – not in a way that’s over the top, not in a way that’s shameful and hiding, but in a way that is filled with joy and just real grounded acceptance about the power of the service that your business provides. Then you tell another person and another person and another person… By doing this not only do you activate the power of conversation and connection, but you activate the value of your business for yourself.

Just think of how many times perhaps you’ve been willing to tell someone about a good movie you saw or a really good book you read or a great bargain on a piece of clothing that you got some where. And that, maybe – just maybe – you’ll share that more willingly than you will share your business.

Now as I look back, I can literally remember – I might not remember their name, but I can remember what they looked like; I can remember the event that I was at or the moment that I was talking to someone and I said - nothing. I said nothing. And I think of all the opportunities that were lost and I do not want to see that happen for you.

So what, perhaps, are you afraid of? What is keeping you from sharing the value of who you are and what your business is and what you’re here to offer? Are you afraid of rejection? If that’s the case, then let me tell you that even if someone says ‘No, thank you’ or ‘No right now’ or ‘No, that isn’t for me’ or ‘No, I don’t know anyone’, that’s only in the moment. And yet in the next day, the next week, the next month, or even a year from now, they might think and remember a conversation they had with you, or when you’re really truly activating the power of connection, you’ll stay in touch with them anyway because it isn’t just about whether they can give you business or not – it’s about the business of connection through conversation.

So you stay in touch with them; they join your online community or you send them a note every once in a while or just drop them a line to see how they’re doing. And then that next day, that next week, that next month or year or even more, they hear someone or something changes for themselves and they think, ‘Let me get in touch, because now I am ready’ or ‘Now I have someone to send to you..’

Would that even have the possibility of happening if you didn’t say a thing? No. No, it would not. Would that even have the possibility of happening if you didn’t value your network and every soul who’s a part of it? No. No, it would not.

So you choose to develop your network, a sacred network, a priceless network and you develop it through a series of conversations. You develop it through a series of genuine, authentic, joyful, willing to connect conversations, and you do this by focusing your conversations on the other person – getting them to talk about their lives and business, literally asking questions and paying attention to the answers, and then responding.

As you do this, you can take this up even another level…

EnergyRICH Hint: You can take this up a notch by focusing your part of the conversation on ideas, on concepts, on things of a positive nature, on giving, on something that you want to share with the other person whether it has to do with your business or not. You hear something that they said and you say, ‘Oh, that makes me think of an article…’ or ‘Oh, that makes me think of so-and-so…’ or ‘You really need to read this book…’ ‘I know this would really make a difference for you, or I have a sense it would, and I’d really like to share it with you…’ and then the connection has been made through conversation, and that conversation is now in a place where it is able to continue and continue and continue.

You will see this come back to you and waves and waves and rolls and rolls of abundance, because you have activated the power of conversation.

You have activated the power of possibility.

Again, very different than if you say nothing. It’s the difference between a moment in time that then just dissolves and disappears and the ability and possibility for a lifelong relationship, for a lifelong exchange, for lifelong support.

It’s the difference between closed energy because you are afraid, because you’re activating lower-level energies, and the difference from open, expansive energy that opens up the door to possibility after possibility after possibility after opportunity after opportunity after opportunity.

You’ve probably heard a lot of marketing folks talk about “growing your list.” I like to think of this more along the lines of “building a community.” It’s a reminder that for each email that is on your on-line list, there’s a person behind it.

Whatever you call it, the larger your community the greater opportunity you have to connect with more people, reach more people, and serve more people through your business. Now here’s the thing: there’s no single way to build your community. There are actually several ways. The key is combining them to build a community of subscribers who then have the opportunity to get to know you, like you, trust you and become your customers and clients.

So for today’s EnergyRICH® Insider Secret Tip I wanted to share with you 3 ways of creating an on-line community that have easily worked for me:

Share Your Information Via The Internet

For years I’ve been a huge fan of writing articles and posting articles on the internet. The more articles you are able to share with various web sites, the more folks get to see you and know about your business. Your articles on complimentary web sites will drive qualified visitors back to your website.

But finding all these sites and then posting your articles on them could literally be a full time job (and I’m guessing you have some other things to do in your business, too, yes?). So a way to make this easy-breezy for you is to get your articles posted and distributed by syndication sites such as  www.articlemarketer.com and www.submitmyarticle.com. These sites are great - you give them your article and they’ll get it distributed to other online networks and sites that are looking for articles to post.

Now if you aren’t an article writer, another way to get information out there is by using online press releases. This has emerged as one of the most powerful ways to drive traffic to your site! And it’s fun! You can even do this for free at sites like www.PR.com.

Share Your Information Via In-Person and Virtual Presentations

I first built the EnergyRICH® on-line community through giving talks and presentations to different groups and organizations. During the talk I’d offer a free e-course along with a subscription to the EnergyRICH® ezine. Lot’s of folks jumped in and joined the community from this invitation alone.

Then EnergyRICH® Coaching started to become more virtual and I started to give more teleclasses and was invited to give teleclasses to other groups … another great way to share high-quality information with a lot of people and invite them to join the community … it starts to become just one big, joyful entrepreneurial party really.

Share Easy Access to Your Community

It doesn’t really do anyone any good if once they get to your website they don’t feel called (or can’t figure out how) to join your community, right? I mean, actually, let me tell you an important secret… the ONLY real purpose of your website is to have people join your community. That’s right. So you want your home page, navigation, sign-up page - everything – set up for REALLY easy access to your community. You want multiple places that visitors can just CLICK, enter name and email and then, of course, receive something from you of extremely high-value and right away (it’s a lot to ask of folks for them to give you their name and email these days so you want to honor that.)

So take a look at your web site: Is it easy or difficult for someone to find out where to subscribe to your community? And if you do have a subscription form, what do you offer that is free, high-value and can be received right away? Again, very few people will sign up for just an eZine by itself anymore. But they will happily join you in exchange for some valuable information.

How to Playfully Create Business Profit

There is one main energy that can take you out of business extremely fast and that is the energy of competition. I can honestly tell you that when I first started off in business, I spent a lot of time surfing through the Internet reading newsletters of other folks who were out there doing work that was similar to myself. The mistake was not the researching; the mistake was not the reading and not even just the witnessing or acknowledging what others in my area were doing; the mistake was the feeling and the energy that it generated in me.

That feeling and energy was very closed. As soon as I saw something that somebody else was doing, it was like a dagger through my heart. I would immediately feel like, ‘What’s wrong with me? Why am I not doing that? I should be doing that. How can I make that happen for me and really, really fast?’ And I would set off on this whirlwind of taking what I had just seen and trying to immediately put it into action in my business.

Sound familiar?

But what I learned from this was very important. I learned:

(1) I was miserable;
(2) I was constantly in a place of feeling like I didn’t measure up.

And as a result those two energies were immediately activated in my business, so whatever I did actually end up creating in my business, didn’t go very far. It didn’t have a powerful effect and half the time, I can honestly tell you I didn’t really know what I was creating anyway – because I didn’t feel connected to it. The only thing I really felt was fear – that I wasn’t doing what I needed to be doing in my business, and whatever I was doing wasn’t good enough because it wasn’t like this other person that I had just read about, heard about, or looked at. It created this huge outpour of energy – a lot of really frantic wheel-turning and wheel spinning that really didn’t produce very many results.

What I’ve since learned and am now here to share with you and what I am holding as an intention for you is to evolve from the energy of competition to the energy of collaboration.

So let’s start right now … what I’d like you to do is to get a piece of paper and draw a triangle. Then divide this triangle into 5 sections. I’d like you to leave the most room at the top; I’d like you to make this a big triangle.

The first level at the bottom, label ‘Playing NOT to Lose’. This level right here is where we operate from doing just enough to get by. You can think about this level in the sense of ‘I’d better perform or else I’ll be in trouble’.

The next level up, level 2, label ‘Playing to Cruise’. This is activating just enough energy so you can continue to move forward but in a very status quo way. This has you operating from a bit more than just enough, but you’re just cruising along. There really isn’t much movement or much growth.

That brings us up to level number 3, ‘Playing to Improve’. So here is where a shift in beliefs begins to occur. This is the beginning of a new way of operating, a new way of being in business, and a new way of just being in life overall. It’s the beginning of the understanding ‘Maybe I can actually create more than I thought. Maybe I’m better than what my past has had me believing up until now.’ It’s this level when entrepreneurs really begin to actively engage their thoughts, their feelings and their energy in connection to whatever task is at hand for the sole purpose of improvement: of your business, your life, your self.

And that up-levels you to level 4, “Playing to Compete’. This is where you begin to believe that you’re capable of beating out your competition and being the best. Again, a tough place to be in. The ego mind will tell you ‘You’ve arrived. This is the only way people succeed in business.’ It’ll definitely move you forward much more than 1, 2, and 3, but, as I shared before, it’ll only move you so far and it can have you feeling frustrated and asking the question, ‘Is this all there is?’

And that means you are being shown that you are ready to up-level to level number 5.

Level number 5, ‘Playing to Create and Playing to Serve’. This is the highest level energy that becomes activated when an entrepreneur moves from competition to creation. It’s about being able to be the best that you can be IN ORDER TO serve in the highest way. In this place you know that creativity and fear CANNOT co-exist. You “compete” only with yourself simply so that you can be available to serve in a better way and a higher way than you were yesterday.

This level, level 5, is rooted in a spirit-based consciousness that has you operating from thoughts of love and abundance. Fear and scarcity have no place at this level of thinking; this is where EnergyRICH® entrepreneurs are fearlessly seeking becoming all that you have the potential to become.

At this level, you are open to operating from a powerful belief energy. You are open to that deep, spirit-based knowing that you cannot fail. You can only learn and grow. And with this potential in front of you and your fear behind you, you’re able to move beyond the boundaries of competition, beyond the limitations of competition, beyond the energy of restriction that comes from competition, and then you are able to create. From this place, this spirit-based consciousness, you are then able to create what average entrepreneurs out there believe is impossible.

Then, everything in your business becomes fun because you really start to see it as a game of creation in which there is no way to lose, only gain. To allow yourself to continue to create and then that is movement forward. Always.

Do You Allow the “Small Stuff” to Stop Your Success?

Look around you. Do you have everything you desire for your business? If your business is not where you want it to be, you need to look at where YOU are focusing your thoughts, feelings, and actions. You can’t blame anyone or anything if you are not where you want to be.

You need to take absolute energetic responsibility for all of it and move in loving kindness from where you are to where you want to be. Conflict gives you so much to learn from and until you take full responsibility, you will always feel like something “out there” needs to change for your outcomes to be what you want.

Instead of beating yourself up about everything that isn’t working (huge expenditure of energy, yes?) or getting caught up in the perfection of tiny details (convinced that’s what will create success for you), look for the learning, the seeds of greater opportunity -and then take action on them.

The inner-workings of your business are constantly in play -always - even as you move into the outer. It’s not like, oh, I did that energy stuff now let me just get DOing. Or I can’t move forward until every “i” is dotted, “t” is crossed and word spelled right. This will just have you back spinning your wheels and off your purpose.
