Thank you for your article on niceness, Heather. It was especially timely and in it you addressed an issue I'm dealing with -- the difference between facilitator and teacher.

I was told by a programmer here at the holistic learning center where I work p.t. that one of my failings as a teacher is in sitting within the circle of participants, not raising myself to a higher level so that they could "look up" to my teachings and respect me as an expert. (Something she obviously doesn't.) This would be the exact opposite of my intention to NOT be a guru, and to invite individual and collective creativity and Divine Presence into a relaxed, generative, ego-free, egalitarian story sanctuary I work to create.

It's a delicate balance, and you clearly have found a way to treat your clients as equals, act as a facilitator for our own inner knowing, and at the same time stand firm as an authentic expert on building a business from the inside out. You're so gifted in this.

Great topic! Thank you!!!

Aha! Yes that would work...it's still "work" (so my brain isn't screaming at me to go get something done!) and yet it's a step back to clear the mind and recharge. Brilliant! Thanks so much.

Terri - great, great question. I had a perfect moment happen to me this morning that, my sense is, will give you a great example:

I went to a networking meeting this morning. It was a disjointed meeting, went longer than it was scheduled for and I left feeling frazzled and unfulfilled. In days of old I may have felt a bit panicked (how can I run a business with non-effective networking??), rushed back to my office and started in on the emails waiting for me. Today, I stopped in a park, sat down on a bench, took out my journal and scripted the rest of my day (writing out what I would like to have happen for the rest of my day and how I would like to feel). It took about 5 minutes. I immediately felt energized, got a biz idea I hadn't thought of before and came back to my office to complete 4 tasks before I started my coaching calls for the day. Good stuff :)

How does that resonate for you?

Heather -- can you say more about what "be" time would look like? What comes to mind is meditation...and whenever I stop and slow down my brain enough to meditate, I fall asleep! What are the other possibilities?
